I've had this dress cut out for sooo long and finally put it together this weekend and I love it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk6jEPymo-6SpiotRD6DOjmUqmMXZlJpEjwQ0t_xCamWmbj9AGYPj-cXOEu_Asx9q2P6YrH3zkwA99BNsXpSJBOWLR-hlk9MO-Ig8JDbtOPfd1huAH_6eZVw4ra-i35AuIzYYt1CnYQoM/s1600/IMG_7579a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="821" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk6jEPymo-6SpiotRD6DOjmUqmMXZlJpEjwQ0t_xCamWmbj9AGYPj-cXOEu_Asx9q2P6YrH3zkwA99BNsXpSJBOWLR-hlk9MO-Ig8JDbtOPfd1huAH_6eZVw4ra-i35AuIzYYt1CnYQoM/s1600/IMG_7579a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the <a href="http://www.theelimonster.com/product/fjell-dress-pdf-sewing-pattern/">Fjell dress from The Eli Monster</a>. This is the first pattern from this designer I've made but I've got my eyes on making some more really soon. I used some fabric I had in my stash and I can't remember what it was and the selvedges are long gone. It's a really lovely teal colour with a geometric print so it was always going to be a winner in my book.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJPZWsEcta3u3kvbG11SkgT7Yk5dbvTzWjSf5xb-n6d_8X0Eeg4WGNnuXde_xLZVIVSau2Z_XhcHoqf5R9o52oanT-g53WPMvKmmyGWoLaaoJBpjnbY1sqH5yINfpkOs2TX6vuUE7oebo/s1600/IMG_7527a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJPZWsEcta3u3kvbG11SkgT7Yk5dbvTzWjSf5xb-n6d_8X0Eeg4WGNnuXde_xLZVIVSau2Z_XhcHoqf5R9o52oanT-g53WPMvKmmyGWoLaaoJBpjnbY1sqH5yINfpkOs2TX6vuUE7oebo/s1600/IMG_7527a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If I was honest I'd put off making this dress for so long because it used a technique with elastic I've not used before. Instead of a casing you stretch the elastic over the fabric and sew using a zigzag stitch. I cut it all out ready to give it a go and then reports needed to be written, school was hectic and then it was the silly season. Finally this weekend I decided enough was enough and made the dress and surprise, surprise it was super easy to sew and looked really cute.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My girl is growing up so quickly! She's excited to be starting school soon and is super ready. She keeps asking me for "homework"I'm sure that will soon end when she does start! She's been cracking up with her poses for photos lately. I don't know where she's got it from but she's suddenly become a right poser! She's having fun though so that's all that matters even if it does lead to a lot of "interesting" shots.</div>

Straightgrain patterns are always an instant buy for me, and the latest Feliz dress was no exception.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgso_4H13tw5tF-nj3vZ6YIEKV5J_yRCnkVwjiTKRcSqMWx18f3K7lkrgcZOX1ALswxbDYzdhNcpWBuf1tvcPIZVr5ZTlXCUN1-p2AK1s3WTnq8QF6cZZvipBEDNj6MyR-hY6CxdGbIhxg/s1600/IMG_6945a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgso_4H13tw5tF-nj3vZ6YIEKV5J_yRCnkVwjiTKRcSqMWx18f3K7lkrgcZOX1ALswxbDYzdhNcpWBuf1tvcPIZVr5ZTlXCUN1-p2AK1s3WTnq8QF6cZZvipBEDNj6MyR-hY6CxdGbIhxg/s1600/IMG_6945a.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Surprisingly, considering how much I like pleats I made the gathered version first. I used this Cloud 9 fabric from Spotlight. I loved the big bold flowers and this simple dress design worked well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhysUwkDoNPeXFtSdTTCY7PYW76RfHfe4ljjtfLs4e1n2pW1lcGimtmD9EyBsuW37XGHVmBJxuxUj_F2tnkAfseAyL7_X5zmh2A3414aOghU8IdwX5p4pkuo0TCod9WsaGyGqhFL3zxcDM/s1600/IMG_7008a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhysUwkDoNPeXFtSdTTCY7PYW76RfHfe4ljjtfLs4e1n2pW1lcGimtmD9EyBsuW37XGHVmBJxuxUj_F2tnkAfseAyL7_X5zmh2A3414aOghU8IdwX5p4pkuo0TCod9WsaGyGqhFL3zxcDM/s1600/IMG_7008a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I spent ages making sure I matched up the print at the back and it turned out pretty well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDZisjMAfd6xOl4zkp1ZYKiugKBcmmfQe7V-ByX4RSZ-opE2eTQF8952xFEIwI3Z7nf7WGvr7KaucU6Bua1VjKRv7o2SArEJmCuP2lY1jxEBRHFLschFIzde-7jQV5tCSSd6LITnrDSeY/s1600/IMG_6918a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDZisjMAfd6xOl4zkp1ZYKiugKBcmmfQe7V-ByX4RSZ-opE2eTQF8952xFEIwI3Z7nf7WGvr7KaucU6Bua1VjKRv7o2SArEJmCuP2lY1jxEBRHFLschFIzde-7jQV5tCSSd6LITnrDSeY/s1600/IMG_6918a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The dress was easy to put together. This is the size 5 and it is a roomy dress. The bodice has a slight curve so I had to check the diagrams a few time to check I got it just right. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern has some lovely sleeve options, including flutter, bell and longer sleeves. Freya has made her view on ruffles quite clear lately so I used the dolman sleeves, plus anytime I don't have to set in sleeves is a big plus in my book. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

I'm looking forward to giving the pleated version a try!</div>

Hi! I'm delighted today to be taking part in the Blogtour for the new pattern by Titchy Threads, <a href="http://www.titchythreads.com/patterns/rushbrook-dress-and-top">The Rushbrook dress and top</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh18EN2RJGg1zAlze08-gcraQZZOAH7uHjOle7zmmR85hBgVia3NiSZ75_fAeO55E04sAPGECEflsc40ddjnKi_gES2_x3ezU8wKhTHkGgceWRXovEnEdvzH1GCrvTR0rnDKP0lAd4uCEs/s1600/IMG_7090a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh18EN2RJGg1zAlze08-gcraQZZOAH7uHjOle7zmmR85hBgVia3NiSZ75_fAeO55E04sAPGECEflsc40ddjnKi_gES2_x3ezU8wKhTHkGgceWRXovEnEdvzH1GCrvTR0rnDKP0lAd4uCEs/s1600/IMG_7090a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Before Laura contacted me, I had looked at this pattern a few times and it was great to have an excuse to bump it up to the top of my sewing pile. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivwubS3_oKzBSi6W9UZpTi1z3H6EYRjNvo821LSinUnAUpmTkCmwc0steZqc7czxKfvctbgR6SPUKstXJDvsUCd0O-B-m-kTfxJefLmksSNUl8_ZMoEbaQwWay4Hr7Q4YZxZ_UMkRBIsg/s1600/IMG_6795a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="953" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivwubS3_oKzBSi6W9UZpTi1z3H6EYRjNvo821LSinUnAUpmTkCmwc0steZqc7czxKfvctbgR6SPUKstXJDvsUCd0O-B-m-kTfxJefLmksSNUl8_ZMoEbaQwWay4Hr7Q4YZxZ_UMkRBIsg/s1600/IMG_6795a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Freya is going through a very anti-ruffles and frills stage at the moment. She's not even considering flutter sleeves so I knew my version was going to be on the plain side. I had lots of ideas floating around in my head but in the end I went with this Cotton and Steel print. I knew the bold print would be a good match with the simplicity of the design.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglNwiR7KRWiOjc5EZbFNHJbcGnObBmEFOaXfj85BMst6O7BwyCTQRK_sRuzQIEl0uo5Iyr13CjtVuuddFVlfBk1FsyfitkBN9DZGrzaazRtJLY1fUpKI_gkt94mRYE7TtV7Jc52H6Hl9w/s1600/IMG_7117a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglNwiR7KRWiOjc5EZbFNHJbcGnObBmEFOaXfj85BMst6O7BwyCTQRK_sRuzQIEl0uo5Iyr13CjtVuuddFVlfBk1FsyfitkBN9DZGrzaazRtJLY1fUpKI_gkt94mRYE7TtV7Jc52H6Hl9w/s1600/IMG_7117a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As you can't wrong with red and blue, I used red fabric for the placket and hem facing. I love that little pop of colour! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC2Ixrm0FxuE1JbE33s7h3XvF05PBtDyEoRKVtYx0YfKBDtQMHKzfthDEgMY0BlWjD8RGWF9SkJWKH5GSfBucN7TvwliF_XmdheyE5lN1r9S4DGiRlCljx-Rpgzi3rtSgz8GVs9sB4oHA/s1600/IMG_7024a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC2Ixrm0FxuE1JbE33s7h3XvF05PBtDyEoRKVtYx0YfKBDtQMHKzfthDEgMY0BlWjD8RGWF9SkJWKH5GSfBucN7TvwliF_XmdheyE5lN1r9S4DGiRlCljx-Rpgzi3rtSgz8GVs9sB4oHA/s1600/IMG_7024a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sewing with bias binding is never my favourite thing to do and I was a little intimidated by the thought of the placket, but the instructions were very clear. Just be careful where to put your markings, making sure if it's supposed to be on the right or wrong side of the fabric!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJPVJPBCyBwvBCSvekBMa6i5o4a-A5YJdYNAg1s5qGyCb_y6g-26PboIbyeFmNr7h8BSxJq4SjbaMyxGV3ptzcTlEHd_CffyHWymo9WNoQsVOFB7r0sUmX7iD-eUIJknkKMN5GhkCofd4/s1600/IMG_7039a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="948" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJPVJPBCyBwvBCSvekBMa6i5o4a-A5YJdYNAg1s5qGyCb_y6g-26PboIbyeFmNr7h8BSxJq4SjbaMyxGV3ptzcTlEHd_CffyHWymo9WNoQsVOFB7r0sUmX7iD-eUIJknkKMN5GhkCofd4/s1600/IMG_7039a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was the first Titchy Threads pattern I've made and I was impressed by how everything lined up nicely. The instructions include french seams and using a hem facing so the dress is finished beautifully inside and out.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

The dress also has a lovely racerback. It will be great for us Aussies in the Summer but I think would layer nicely for colder weather too.</div>

I actually sewed this one up months ago but have only got around to sharing it now.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKC4IgftK1TC7Ob88khXD-yU4t29jkth2m0_iRhDIAMmPm_sTAsUVnHPC2cvEcYOwrJxDPPVMHswJz6y62DbkMgcCDuqqL0K07BqV7-ov52NEhLmQiDRqtGqajguTXoQhytAxARzqKpuw/s1600/IMG_6877a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKC4IgftK1TC7Ob88khXD-yU4t29jkth2m0_iRhDIAMmPm_sTAsUVnHPC2cvEcYOwrJxDPPVMHswJz6y62DbkMgcCDuqqL0K07BqV7-ov52NEhLmQiDRqtGqajguTXoQhytAxARzqKpuw/s1600/IMG_6877a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the <a href="https://www.twigandtale.com/products/driftwood-blouse-dress">Driftwood Dress </a>pattern from Twig and Tale. I have made and love their vest and pixie pants pattern and thought I'd give this dress a whirl.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxhK9jkAHK1YkOJ8L0ta0vAC3N8q_P09XoiABpkISVV5zJxqh1osFAHUOY22Bgfyrex0aGhTK4xdZ475GEYpWdAcPynXqGkxk6vK4GGKN_SOLk-O-kPGYbGWcYdnx9pnGiIiZpxHQFy_g/s1600/IMG_6801a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="716" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxhK9jkAHK1YkOJ8L0ta0vAC3N8q_P09XoiABpkISVV5zJxqh1osFAHUOY22Bgfyrex0aGhTK4xdZ475GEYpWdAcPynXqGkxk6vK4GGKN_SOLk-O-kPGYbGWcYdnx9pnGiIiZpxHQFy_g/s1600/IMG_6801a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To be honest I have mixed feelings about this dress. The sleeves are quite puffy in this version but that may have to do with my fabric choice, maybe something drapier would be better. This one is made up with some Tula Pink cotton.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimXzRHPiM9032B4pCe4Jvle_Ln0-JdDEHXzLOKy_z3Wf2wuhQbAISo_l8ptpXXc0yHI1-mXF9NIyOlEtep74ERMvYbPKuwzBrItXEAYCr6zwvXjdOS0n4neGKbCdvtEPW3BIk6fjGyzu4/s1600/IMG_6885a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1056" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimXzRHPiM9032B4pCe4Jvle_Ln0-JdDEHXzLOKy_z3Wf2wuhQbAISo_l8ptpXXc0yHI1-mXF9NIyOlEtep74ERMvYbPKuwzBrItXEAYCr6zwvXjdOS0n4neGKbCdvtEPW3BIk6fjGyzu4/s1600/IMG_6885a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The front and back bodice are the same and the dress can be worn with the closure either at the front or the back. I'm not sure if the elastic waist is hitting Freya at the right spot. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The PDF and the dress came together easily enough and had very clear instructions. I'm just not sure if I like it. Some days I do and then others I don't. I think the fabric choice has a lot to do with this, to be fair. It keeps reminding me of an old-fashioned vintage swimsuit... Freya however has called it her cat in the hat dress and likes it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWr4RgNQGqhG8f0xazMoZBNRklgH2wPfPCMopetsdrUTxt6ptufxdoXciSSPP9XbMlsGWUC6rc0zvrLnglPrBRZlQoF7fHprGF1O0DiSFitR-Fh2cIOyInvp5pMnAl18TRIDZ54oTk1Ks/s1600/IMG_6889a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWr4RgNQGqhG8f0xazMoZBNRklgH2wPfPCMopetsdrUTxt6ptufxdoXciSSPP9XbMlsGWUC6rc0zvrLnglPrBRZlQoF7fHprGF1O0DiSFitR-Fh2cIOyInvp5pMnAl18TRIDZ54oTk1Ks/s1600/IMG_6889a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So mixed feelings about this one. I think I will try the pattern one more time with a softer fabric and see what happens. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I'm dreaming of warmer weather and started sewing more summery dresses.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT0gHwtoGPmMU7NHv-YyDHac9khN5Sb_GFanp-k4nWFjutlauITwbmeUs3xm5rIvyCWCoItCIWhAeQV8Y8PU9ikUufL7WNd5t8CMWNWh4pjZ3l2dpW6Y37at77xUW6I3Vede_xJj4AekI/s1600/IMG_6243a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="745" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT0gHwtoGPmMU7NHv-YyDHac9khN5Sb_GFanp-k4nWFjutlauITwbmeUs3xm5rIvyCWCoItCIWhAeQV8Y8PU9ikUufL7WNd5t8CMWNWh4pjZ3l2dpW6Y37at77xUW6I3Vede_xJj4AekI/s1600/IMG_6243a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm not sure where the idea came from but about a week or so ago I came up with the idea of wanting a slip dress, for myself and then for Freya. I seemed to remember seeing a pattern not so long ago but couldn't remember for the life of me where I saw it! Then I remembered the <a href="http://shop.truebias.com/product/mini-ogden-cami">Ogden Cami pattern</a> from True Bias and wondered if it could be made into a dress.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJW3W_KnJTvt46mVIXNixqQwJ57zoAyD7WWJi5xTO5r5QrZu0sP6E1w9dYL1N6ULfOZynGhH8gRjS45OKKRReVM1Ybq6R7AEufQ8aoh4dHEOSPui_P8aDxqLaBNuimM5P5vI9t_Qmfd1A/s1600/IMG_6240a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="748" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJW3W_KnJTvt46mVIXNixqQwJ57zoAyD7WWJi5xTO5r5QrZu0sP6E1w9dYL1N6ULfOZynGhH8gRjS45OKKRReVM1Ybq6R7AEufQ8aoh4dHEOSPui_P8aDxqLaBNuimM5P5vI9t_Qmfd1A/s1600/IMG_6240a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A quick google search later and I knew it could be easily done. I bought both patterns straight away and got started with Freya's first. I simply added 9 inches to the bottom and voila!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFfFNEE5XWtLaFoW9QBeBXMi7-g5irj6Jq3XM-VG-P4DxxrmiGE8rGfrsg81ktzEMlppK7-IWqLHasCMoB8zckZlJz7V6yuZe9K-EacjPv6gNzPjXaauGNCeqOSwcdzrvocXLodkY_giE/s1600/IMG_6254a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="826" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFfFNEE5XWtLaFoW9QBeBXMi7-g5irj6Jq3XM-VG-P4DxxrmiGE8rGfrsg81ktzEMlppK7-IWqLHasCMoB8zckZlJz7V6yuZe9K-EacjPv6gNzPjXaauGNCeqOSwcdzrvocXLodkY_giE/s1600/IMG_6254a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern was very straightforward and easy to sew. It only took a couple of hours from cutting out to finishing off the hem. I'd had this fabric for a while and was considering using it for this dress and Freya agreed quite enthusiastically, yellow being one her favourite colours and all.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I love it how it's turned out. It works well layered with t-shirts and is quite versatile. I think the only thing I will do differently is finish the ends of the straps a bit differently as you fold them over a couple of time before sewing them over the elastic band and it seems a little bulky to me. </div>

The fabric is from the Enchanted collection by Alisse Courtier. I loved this range in the shop and I must admit I got a fair bit of it, so there will be more to come. The purple flowers in the dress nicely set off Freya's new glasses too. We notice only a few weeks ago Freya had started going cross-eyed. We quickly got her checked out and found out she would need glasses. I'm so glad we acted so quickly because her eyes starting going cross-eyed more and more.</div>

She's pretty pleased with them and I think they've really helped. When she came out of the Optometrist she announced that she could "Look Daddy, I can see the cars!!" I dread to think how bad her eyesight must have been... Luckily she loves wearing them and has gotten used to them pretty quickly.</div>

I am delighted to be taking part in the Cosmo dress pattern tour.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSL0ucfZg5kH4Lu7RknPSvrjig433G2naU6SrwsI9bKZLXck-NeuxfJ-enzIAe9otNHmXvddQurrJUmplwldXhwINBTTkU3SNcwndKe1PGjMfwFsWIrcRSFioY-EDC3wgsXZRWexTAmXc/s1600/IMG_5760A.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="904" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSL0ucfZg5kH4Lu7RknPSvrjig433G2naU6SrwsI9bKZLXck-NeuxfJ-enzIAe9otNHmXvddQurrJUmplwldXhwINBTTkU3SNcwndKe1PGjMfwFsWIrcRSFioY-EDC3wgsXZRWexTAmXc/s1600/IMG_5760A.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the <a href="http://shop.sewpony.com/product/cosmo-dress-pattern">Cosmo dress</a> pattern from Sewpony and it's another winner. I knew instantly that this would be a dress I would love when I started seeing photos on Instagram. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNSmkRrCOOVXQG-gNEQACi-lQbkYsx6rBGtuzn66Gs59n0AvtrfHk0BArJG2uYZlZb7-8z0Bl-y8DWs9Hr9oK6RRGozE9hsIAQGym6UhAKIY0a6LvjMm90M2pajfgQbtBmRG4IdrmhaHg/s1600/IMG_5393a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNSmkRrCOOVXQG-gNEQACi-lQbkYsx6rBGtuzn66Gs59n0AvtrfHk0BArJG2uYZlZb7-8z0Bl-y8DWs9Hr9oK6RRGozE9hsIAQGym6UhAKIY0a6LvjMm90M2pajfgQbtBmRG4IdrmhaHg/s1600/IMG_5393a.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made the pattern as is but I used the cap sleeve from this <a href="http://shop.sewpony.com/product/miss-polly-dress">Miss Polly dress</a> instead. Freya really likes dresses with short or no sleeves and I wanted to keep using the piping. I really like how you can mix and match the collars and sleeves from some of the other Sewpony patterns. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern itself was a fairly straight forward sew and the instructions and photos made each step clear. Adding the piping took a little longer but this dress just works so well with piping, so it was worth it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvVD0o9Mbhweuegd0qYRodSonF-ARz4PM_f9Ek9B156SrEk98nsPoHQv44IOsLmelQfrEKGsBAtzie64ZmkaK78ZwnGFTPpJEbPVXccPQR-V97LZhFbkqNomrnrqNRZ256-eTHlQzWP3c/s1600/IMG_5400a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvVD0o9Mbhweuegd0qYRodSonF-ARz4PM_f9Ek9B156SrEk98nsPoHQv44IOsLmelQfrEKGsBAtzie64ZmkaK78ZwnGFTPpJEbPVXccPQR-V97LZhFbkqNomrnrqNRZ256-eTHlQzWP3c/s1600/IMG_5400a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It actually took me a while to decide which fabric to use for this dress. I kept changing my mind and finding it hard to commit to one idea. Finally I decided on this one and I'm so glad I did. I knew I liked it but as soon as Little Miss put it on I LOVED it.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnNO-8H22f7vj1_sc874o9ItprZWBuRn4Szt5q57DjG_iw9jgBbvWA07BtnhGWB0QR_jRY7MGuLlqApc0675cR2KypUYe69vRfAU58ZGkPODbmUSfcWkT9-kVRAy7jaTQ5rpKTuJv1Vzg/s1600/IMG_5457a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="743" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnNO-8H22f7vj1_sc874o9ItprZWBuRn4Szt5q57DjG_iw9jgBbvWA07BtnhGWB0QR_jRY7MGuLlqApc0675cR2KypUYe69vRfAU58ZGkPODbmUSfcWkT9-kVRAy7jaTQ5rpKTuJv1Vzg/s1600/IMG_5457a.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love the detail of the exposed zipper on this dress. I haven't sewn many exposed zippers (this is my second) but the instructions were very clear and Suz has even made a video to show you how its done. I used fabric glue instead of pins too which I think helped make it a little less fiddly.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtCGEE7tXGbQcoi4IFZHPDq70vUIQ_qRr-Xi2AM_2773dIp7pjzv59sTEcSi448iLtfP7X3umltRlYmstBkafEc_6YkCOhGikKPDiCKD6-hLIXytaLgOjmptLmPTVEpQLnyspBecMmvoE/s1600/IMG_5687a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="798" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtCGEE7tXGbQcoi4IFZHPDq70vUIQ_qRr-Xi2AM_2773dIp7pjzv59sTEcSi448iLtfP7X3umltRlYmstBkafEc_6YkCOhGikKPDiCKD6-hLIXytaLgOjmptLmPTVEpQLnyspBecMmvoE/s1600/IMG_5687a.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pockets were a hit as well. She'd only had it on for 5 minutes before she was trying out what would fit in them. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_oawhYRoBsxlNv1afJG-lqbhYnf_JzuZhO9rCsm7tTr7qqOBWi-FJdNj3Tt43nMuZmALt5F5yt5soCUaJMXEypY1Uhm17R3rpeUjoNjZRmSweji_STc3ZWJA3sFaR97_9iFs3Db4qvHY/s1600/IMG_5696a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="832" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_oawhYRoBsxlNv1afJG-lqbhYnf_JzuZhO9rCsm7tTr7qqOBWi-FJdNj3Tt43nMuZmALt5F5yt5soCUaJMXEypY1Uhm17R3rpeUjoNjZRmSweji_STc3ZWJA3sFaR97_9iFs3Db4qvHY/s1600/IMG_5696a.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So another great dress pattern from Suz and definitely one I'll be making again. I'd love to try and be a bit adventurous with my colour blocking for the next one I reckon. Watch this space!</div>

It's another Tinny dress folks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzcGRx6X6w8JM3Wj2eVvSWFdRxRG1nveVPwwbwA4H3XWKf2OTrmZzOnviRf1VRiPZrOPABP8jMITlnB9MVG8mmjhhOPpfCz5iPQ8MxPd9QhXK5Y2yDZ5FalVD3pRfOC-Nt3H6tDL-Iirg/s1600/IMG_5627a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzcGRx6X6w8JM3Wj2eVvSWFdRxRG1nveVPwwbwA4H3XWKf2OTrmZzOnviRf1VRiPZrOPABP8jMITlnB9MVG8mmjhhOPpfCz5iPQ8MxPd9QhXK5Y2yDZ5FalVD3pRfOC-Nt3H6tDL-Iirg/s1600/IMG_5627a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="text-align: center;">This is definitely my most used pattern now. This time I've used the bow collar from the Laure Dress. I really love how some designers make their patterns mix and match. It opens up even more options than the one pattern (although this one still has plenty!)</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This dress is actually based on the character of Lucy Wilde from Despicable Me 2. Everytime Freya enjoys watching or reading something now she asks for a dress. I had originally thought of making her a minion denim pinafore but she insisted Lucy was her favourite so that's what I went with.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I used a white and pink fabric for the bow as a nod to Lucy's scarf and of course the twirly skirt of the Tinny is always a winner.</div>

I was a bit worried when I showed her while I was half-way through making it, and she said it was wrong. But luckily she loved it when I'd finished and wanted to wear it straight away.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I was just happy to make something not based on a Disney Princess. I'm really enjoying making these character inspired dresses. My goal is to be make wearable for everyday while still having that dress up quality. </div>

After seeing how much Freya loved her first Elsa dress, another Princess dress was always going to be on the to-sew list.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUFvgZ1cISGoy7T7QkPI5Bj3uw6U1mPwZCqhytvi7iOhAdfWcg9jpF9eaXSFqdJN8GQRZyDjWrK7geaIk2mUNWrARSnyXWHj7-uHC5aP0l1beQiulE122i5bVnJsDSVLE4N6KkWA2CLiM/s1600/IMG_5155a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="839" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUFvgZ1cISGoy7T7QkPI5Bj3uw6U1mPwZCqhytvi7iOhAdfWcg9jpF9eaXSFqdJN8GQRZyDjWrK7geaIk2mUNWrARSnyXWHj7-uHC5aP0l1beQiulE122i5bVnJsDSVLE4N6KkWA2CLiM/s1600/IMG_5155a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I went back to Frozen for this one and decided on Elsa's coronation dress. I used the <a href="http://www.sewmuchado.com/shop/magrath-dress-tunic-pdf-pattern">Magrath dress pattern</a> for this one and have plans to use this pattern to make the next Princess dress on the list (and Freya's list keeps getting bigger).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZLHwmygJ-MmPPOms7xxklAVsmBmGMZOHixS_rrRnoPxTvIHzyVj90OqefFXCwS8FKko3mDuIy_9V7YDOQQ4EUp_CgrsZOmVUIACHOlwGarBZhrJxyBOXEZ7V1mQR03W1GBd70ZObE2h4/s1600/IMG_5205a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="919" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZLHwmygJ-MmPPOms7xxklAVsmBmGMZOHixS_rrRnoPxTvIHzyVj90OqefFXCwS8FKko3mDuIy_9V7YDOQQ4EUp_CgrsZOmVUIACHOlwGarBZhrJxyBOXEZ7V1mQR03W1GBd70ZObE2h4/s1600/IMG_5205a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added yellow piping between the seams which wasn't the easiest thing to do with the shaped bodice. I got out my embroidery machine for the bodice patterns. I got the design from <a href="https://www.etsystudio.com/shop/DaisySproutsDesigns/">Daisy Sprouts</a> and it stitched up beautifully.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2oUDpPd5mzUqYIK37-WsO7JHlr7WXGxzTNXRZ04leih9a-BCu1co1yqLV1Wp5vYhnAYOS7pEqgZMf1Cmo435cZZqCXYdEgdzZPB1y2s2IJ8erh-JqzXBcg6KEqqfZG4zt3Dz0tTj-U2I/s1600/IMG_5179a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="822" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2oUDpPd5mzUqYIK37-WsO7JHlr7WXGxzTNXRZ04leih9a-BCu1co1yqLV1Wp5vYhnAYOS7pEqgZMf1Cmo435cZZqCXYdEgdzZPB1y2s2IJ8erh-JqzXBcg6KEqqfZG4zt3Dz0tTj-U2I/s1600/IMG_5179a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I changed the back to make it a straight yoke and added more piping. I wasn't originally going to use and exposed zipper but the piping didn't agree with the invisible zipper so I went back to the original design. This is the first zipper I've ever done that wasn't invisible and I kind of like it. It's got me thinking about using some more exposed zippers with some other dresses.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFTagTelGjnHcTG3OAU51TL-cPVK5goA8zpAzrIMSJRO1O-jUQN9x7bW-nDbAuclA-m1Y6oJu1EII9a6-u75-zL4TzQbJ3-1X0oO0jn9amHjUktzxLunu3Ei2EIenAr3LmPze58MiGT-s/s1600/IMG_5201a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="914" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFTagTelGjnHcTG3OAU51TL-cPVK5goA8zpAzrIMSJRO1O-jUQN9x7bW-nDbAuclA-m1Y6oJu1EII9a6-u75-zL4TzQbJ3-1X0oO0jn9amHjUktzxLunu3Ei2EIenAr3LmPze58MiGT-s/s1600/IMG_5201a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Other than the back, I didn't alter the pattern at all. This is a size 5 and it has plenty of room. To be honest Freya would probably still fit a size 4 in a few patterns, but I always sew up a 5 to be safe, and to make sure it will last for a while. I didn't lengthen it as I wanted this dress to be a bit more user friendly than the full length one.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLkTcPh3DlJC1K10obFkGn-7uZz1I_skAEMIv8R7_YgAWYN89WMgnVThIdPiTlXbBTQBgDTgFIIIm7JzGPj4MBWqOIXoQXrCX253TonUhyphenhyphenT9OFj4n52QmCNT186bW5eJu03yJH2ruEGmw/s1600/IMG_5231a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="733" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLkTcPh3DlJC1K10obFkGn-7uZz1I_skAEMIv8R7_YgAWYN89WMgnVThIdPiTlXbBTQBgDTgFIIIm7JzGPj4MBWqOIXoQXrCX253TonUhyphenhyphenT9OFj4n52QmCNT186bW5eJu03yJH2ruEGmw/s1600/IMG_5231a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern was great. The instructions were clear and had photos for each step. The PDF itself went together quickly and smoothly. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Needless to say it was a big hit with my girl. She's already talking about the next character dress she wants, and luckily it's not a princess next time. Watch this space.</div>

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Last term was so busy, it's been wonderful to have a good break during the School holidays and have the chance to do some sewing. Of course, by time I've had chance to photograph some of them it was miserable outside, so I'm afraid it's inside photos today.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhetDm5e9sWNmvSEtBC_2s3U8FfnVNa5-Qtg80tSVa6KFALsb77BSs9OA3vMjYJ7kcta21Q5cWpXaGC9rslKOxIx5SnWwGORCsQ0r03iBmkkFT5ip_jBxOC6pIBs9Yizidhv1tDEpmSv4Y/s1600/IMG_4891a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="795" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhetDm5e9sWNmvSEtBC_2s3U8FfnVNa5-Qtg80tSVa6KFALsb77BSs9OA3vMjYJ7kcta21Q5cWpXaGC9rslKOxIx5SnWwGORCsQ0r03iBmkkFT5ip_jBxOC6pIBs9Yizidhv1tDEpmSv4Y/s1600/IMG_4891a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of my first projects was the Tulip Dress from <a href="https://www.kaatjenaaisels.be/product/tulip-dress-and-top-english-pattern">kaatjenaaisels</a>. I'd had these fabrics on my shelf for a while and knew I wanted to put them together and finally decided to use this pattern to do it.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1KnPrQ7MaiYTI8rIjm4FQ42uuXLhiQHUxtJt6xzfv23PQGfcpR9fn9J89bKdN4kg4-b5vhyN8teHYCVrUVe28yt5PzXItQQR0paiqlzXpnnj4jhwVLVUuKIV0reaIRGl16_JywcBcxCs/s1600/IMG_4886a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="792" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1KnPrQ7MaiYTI8rIjm4FQ42uuXLhiQHUxtJt6xzfv23PQGfcpR9fn9J89bKdN4kg4-b5vhyN8teHYCVrUVe28yt5PzXItQQR0paiqlzXpnnj4jhwVLVUuKIV0reaIRGl16_JywcBcxCs/s1600/IMG_4886a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern itself is both in English and Dutch. The PDF went together quickly and didn't have a lot of pages. I think a label for a zipper line was missing but it was pretty easy to figure out. This pattern has a button or zipper option, but I've discovered Freya really likes zippers so that's what I went with.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiUU7UaTKBC91icMCOMiBo-uBgS4T2GU5fABlokomYGhtGH3j5hkXbLAlkczb-Dik3XwS1aUERPq8tpaD41Cb-gbzA4xRQcDkRM28UAwbymEOatMqfbAI28dJsD3f5iU7jK9JWKSRtliM/s1600/IMG_4911b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="867" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiUU7UaTKBC91icMCOMiBo-uBgS4T2GU5fABlokomYGhtGH3j5hkXbLAlkczb-Dik3XwS1aUERPq8tpaD41Cb-gbzA4xRQcDkRM28UAwbymEOatMqfbAI28dJsD3f5iU7jK9JWKSRtliM/s1600/IMG_4911b.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Construction wise it all went together quiet smoothly. As other bloggers had said the shoulder seams can e quite think as there are lots of layer to sew together, but it honestly wasn't that bad and easy to live with. There was nothing overly fiddly and the instructions were clear.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYar4Ni98VEhC_5vLR4FEeHgN4Ge7SUL66Q2sScjR05cIHJSDcpBU1mRHbVM3JjNLUID77s3C6Bp31oBGEw-TZ2OxkX2MbzF3cIHuYDDWVYP5AAMNY7P2f4DDs_PozpVjSMGKZgXVcGEM/s1600/IMG_4934a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYar4Ni98VEhC_5vLR4FEeHgN4Ge7SUL66Q2sScjR05cIHJSDcpBU1mRHbVM3JjNLUID77s3C6Bp31oBGEw-TZ2OxkX2MbzF3cIHuYDDWVYP5AAMNY7P2f4DDs_PozpVjSMGKZgXVcGEM/s1600/IMG_4934a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love how the dress has turned out. I made a size 5 and it fits well. She seemed to like it as well, which is a bit of a relief. She's so unpredictable in now in dresses she likes and doesn't like.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

When you have a little girl firmly in the Disney princess stage, an Elsa dress was always an inevitability.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK2E_ZMsltzfy5xQh6Iyw-SZUXqpzOnF6OvB0uyf7t3AUZoRJO8t_HSjhHIjlw0Td2ORFYPvtrB_UYMVKJr345ElCJA_2Pjqkyrk8_HCMw1qylz6A0E4omDySI8BuQ4VSjPOwf875QxE0/s1600/IMG_4629a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK2E_ZMsltzfy5xQh6Iyw-SZUXqpzOnF6OvB0uyf7t3AUZoRJO8t_HSjhHIjlw0Td2ORFYPvtrB_UYMVKJr345ElCJA_2Pjqkyrk8_HCMw1qylz6A0E4omDySI8BuQ4VSjPOwf875QxE0/s1600/IMG_4629a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'd been promising to make her one for ages and invitation to a Frozen party was just the excuse to finally get around to making it. Of course having a sewing deadline during report writing time wasn't exactly ideal, but I got it done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNeECguEilyXwmGImwarTnlJZRiflw6K1M8hTAKJJDOI48f_zriuQG2PgkLEN5mpuD8HPKfzQLsjpvvDvJaDoQXpIs90TrPN98EBqU5QU-K8XNDgYzJvmpbnbTGq5RIxqNpk3qqn1CXLk/s1600/IMG_4645a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="748" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNeECguEilyXwmGImwarTnlJZRiflw6K1M8hTAKJJDOI48f_zriuQG2PgkLEN5mpuD8HPKfzQLsjpvvDvJaDoQXpIs90TrPN98EBqU5QU-K8XNDgYzJvmpbnbTGq5RIxqNpk3qqn1CXLk/s1600/IMG_4645a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used my faithful <a href="http://www.straight-grain.com/?product=tinny-dress-2">Tinny dress by Straightgrain </a>as the starting point. I used the Jaanu bodice as a bit a guideline and cut the Tinny bodice into the two parts. I also added the long sleeve from the Ishi dress and used the longest circle skirt from the Tinny pattern with the size 5 at the waist. It all went together beautifully which was good as I didn't have time to make a muslin. I found this great Michael Miller fabric range called fairy frost and it was perfect for the Elsa dress.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3zUWLZEozpO58LCJqZVI4YsH0q5QTjrivy7r0Oqp2g6yjV-_xfF9zky4etavtxR0LWiLDpqe-UiBQcEXT9wjXV9q_k9eQgRDUOD7FYbIauH5TvGEzL2286VT4PV9WI3428d3JukUgKBo/s1600/IMG_4656a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3zUWLZEozpO58LCJqZVI4YsH0q5QTjrivy7r0Oqp2g6yjV-_xfF9zky4etavtxR0LWiLDpqe-UiBQcEXT9wjXV9q_k9eQgRDUOD7FYbIauH5TvGEzL2286VT4PV9WI3428d3JukUgKBo/s1600/IMG_4656a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I found this fabulous sheer fabric from Spotlight ages ago ready for the Elsa dress I would one day make. I had originally planned to sew it into the bodice and yoke seams but I wasn't sure how it was going to wash and last so instead I decided to make a separate cape. I was under strict instructions to make the cape "super long" so I used the full length of fabric and just eye-balled cutting it out without a pattern piece. I sewed it into a detachable peter pan collar and used velcro to close the collar. I think it's turned out to be the right decision. When she gets tired of the cape she can take it off and it's easy to put it back on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She absolutely loves it and hasn't taken it off all weekend, even during a trip to the supermarket (without the cape that is, I'm not that patient). She's already talking about having a Belle, Moana and Rapunzel dress so I think I'm going to have my work cut out for me. At least then this dress will have a chance of being washed...</div>

I'm pretty excited today to be taking part in the blog tour for the new<a href="http://shop.sewpony.com/product/juliette-dress-top-pattern"> Juliette pattern</a>, a collaboration of two of my favourite instagrammers: Sewpony and Kneesocks and Goldilocks.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKRwVHn_HNlkUBOFWK5tua7u-0tSGVasHD8dXqPzG8Ch9HjwCYtHUhi6IH4pWjUvvzUV17kbr_6JHERWhWgSFVvbOm53hZqKlVvAkmzgdbqbCulvnJQDCLc9N69XEG_7MlK6MeOrmir8s/s1600/IMG_4534a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKRwVHn_HNlkUBOFWK5tua7u-0tSGVasHD8dXqPzG8Ch9HjwCYtHUhi6IH4pWjUvvzUV17kbr_6JHERWhWgSFVvbOm53hZqKlVvAkmzgdbqbCulvnJQDCLc9N69XEG_7MlK6MeOrmir8s/s1600/IMG_4534a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've sewn up a few Sewpony patterns now and they are always very sweet and well drafted. This dress was no exception. The pattern is for a dress or top, with a neck ruffle or without, so I made dresses with both.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyD5jWF-8x91gw83Q_qqOG61joAWAusjEMphT7PIE2fxtZIkVACcqdF59X6x5TSywDtC5CCZSTVNv_haUIJWw2m9ntevJObe9KDacxZxh48EaBEP7YZf43PsqsVhtfhDR07YwCpUJpeow/s1600/IMG_4550a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyD5jWF-8x91gw83Q_qqOG61joAWAusjEMphT7PIE2fxtZIkVACcqdF59X6x5TSywDtC5CCZSTVNv_haUIJWw2m9ntevJObe9KDacxZxh48EaBEP7YZf43PsqsVhtfhDR07YwCpUJpeow/s1600/IMG_4550a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first was this dress in gingham with the ruffle. I wanted to use something simple, yet classic and you can't go wrong with gingham. I'm not usually one for ruffles or frills but I'm always keen to try new styles and this pattern looked so sweet. I must admit I kept second guessing myself, on whether or not to add some contrast fabric or not. In the end I kept it simple and I'm glad I did.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGrcV7h12Sk6I8JVF5P9J5ZQ19QxT7Ycsu1Gqrf3MDqHCHIj5R_9pRuum-c7L3bnayHKoS1uNVA_SJcULSBo_E6jjUFP05iV_jruwU0-JqroCo2g-fvdBnW_nb9PPBlDnm3BLW_cckCQs/s1600/IMG_4576a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGrcV7h12Sk6I8JVF5P9J5ZQ19QxT7Ycsu1Gqrf3MDqHCHIj5R_9pRuum-c7L3bnayHKoS1uNVA_SJcULSBo_E6jjUFP05iV_jruwU0-JqroCo2g-fvdBnW_nb9PPBlDnm3BLW_cckCQs/s1600/IMG_4576a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the second one I made, I left off the ruffle and used the faux button placket instead. Again I kept on second guessing whether or not to add a ruffle or change the bias ties. In the end as you can see I used some contrast black with the long ties. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I went with the turned cuff again and used a navy fabric for the lining. Both fabrics are from Cotton and Steel. I've made a dress with this fabric before but I liked it so much I bought more ready for when she outgrew that dress.</div>

You know it's a good pattern when you've already planned out making it with all the fabrics on your shelf!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6MDN7a3tyyHM-95-mciwe8dC8iVg35mAPV3p2PGOKOsGnlTXbtI_wFooZrLlJHIarMG_Pk-6Ltbe3vAjTiHs9R-Jjp-ilz1P1GsR1C1pvfr_ApAAGjVVXFQSjFBuH3vZ3cJpOzVBUGJo/s1600/IMG_3861a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6MDN7a3tyyHM-95-mciwe8dC8iVg35mAPV3p2PGOKOsGnlTXbtI_wFooZrLlJHIarMG_Pk-6Ltbe3vAjTiHs9R-Jjp-ilz1P1GsR1C1pvfr_ApAAGjVVXFQSjFBuH3vZ3cJpOzVBUGJo/s1600/IMG_3861a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the new Dulcie pattern from Sewpony. Suz was kind enough to make this one free for subscribers to her website. I knew it was going to be a dress I wanted to make when I saw some sneak peeks on Instagram.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBFmZ_leaR8XsSXUJticrqjt0iCHT23117T1UWXF6qrtILA79R1caJTv6-jIyKO29ZzXuYPVrYcxP3oFr4u1TPBQjETcUa0aUkrbtkhsIaK7hECcqNTB9Xdhrg5jNBzBuErDWq97DwvqQ/s1600/IMG_3814a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBFmZ_leaR8XsSXUJticrqjt0iCHT23117T1UWXF6qrtILA79R1caJTv6-jIyKO29ZzXuYPVrYcxP3oFr4u1TPBQjETcUa0aUkrbtkhsIaK7hECcqNTB9Xdhrg5jNBzBuErDWq97DwvqQ/s1600/IMG_3814a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is simple, yet lovely in it's details. You can have plain sleeves or slightly longer ones which fold back into a cuff, a square or rounded neckline, half a collar and large patch pockets. It also has a lovely, full gathered skirt to add to the twirl factor.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEDhuPpWDve0FDLGaReBGCtJQtj8MIJ4saWzHtOMYWVXbGmIa2MP3iXhZTsNH5vCfCnVUvI-LtKP9dLAi5oquIx4pzqSZWVYXuPwzgcsf9IrFFbCxY1LzpIzZVnije_kvMONjSvXl8ItU/s1600/IMG_3716a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEDhuPpWDve0FDLGaReBGCtJQtj8MIJ4saWzHtOMYWVXbGmIa2MP3iXhZTsNH5vCfCnVUvI-LtKP9dLAi5oquIx4pzqSZWVYXuPwzgcsf9IrFFbCxY1LzpIzZVnije_kvMONjSvXl8ItU/s1600/IMG_3716a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Construction wise it all went together very quickly and smoothly. I used the fold back sleeves and pockets on this one. Any pattern where you don't have to set in a sleeve is a winner in my book. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The fabric is some lovely Cotton and Steel fabric. Freya's favourite animals are giraffes and her words when she saw this fabric was "please, please, please!" She calls it her party dress because they're holding balloons.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I knew I liked the dress when I'd finished sewing it, but I fell in love with it when Freya put it on. She did too, and was so excited when I showed her the finished dress. I have already cut out my second one and I think I have many fabrics on my shelf that would work beautifully with this pattern.</div>

It's been a long time since I've had the time to do some blogging about something I've made for myself. I've been able to post a few things on my Instagram but I figured this dress actually deserved a blogpost.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh2IqxpyXLuI9jxNl0UI3YVE5PJr74GVdr5nhWX7FLw0Rws_s8VvB9a0xHxspBJ02SLkma9IK_IwDQAIiJD0__uraIf8hxDuzhvd7qsP0C1YDWH61ADXyxxSnkm7KkxlAB5Au2LxvPFcs/s1600/IMG_3464b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh2IqxpyXLuI9jxNl0UI3YVE5PJr74GVdr5nhWX7FLw0Rws_s8VvB9a0xHxspBJ02SLkma9IK_IwDQAIiJD0__uraIf8hxDuzhvd7qsP0C1YDWH61ADXyxxSnkm7KkxlAB5Au2LxvPFcs/s1600/IMG_3464b.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Last year my Mum and I purchased a <a href="http://www.thepatterndrafter.com/">Pattern Drafter </a>from Maria Boncaldo. It's a tricky to explain, but it's basically a ruler to draft your own block pattern (or I think I've seen them called sloper) using your own measurements. The demonstration I attended showed how to draft a whole dress but so far I've pretty much just done a bodice and sleeve.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOv_bN3GgyHuIo_cZQ3f1LP5N2tCTO3ig8JjuuPgXCgG2N1I_BI70h371O2JWwXRU7UQ3h_EAtNWZjC4fpu1FXWnVe7vzrwA-QgEeCkdd9GWA-xsKy1O7_ZN0rJahNyNiiQMChYeUJi3g/s1600/IMG_3492b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOv_bN3GgyHuIo_cZQ3f1LP5N2tCTO3ig8JjuuPgXCgG2N1I_BI70h371O2JWwXRU7UQ3h_EAtNWZjC4fpu1FXWnVe7vzrwA-QgEeCkdd9GWA-xsKy1O7_ZN0rJahNyNiiQMChYeUJi3g/s1600/IMG_3492b.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After having just 2 attempts, with a little tweaking here and there (more with taking my own measurements correctly) I had a bodice that fit me perfectly. I usually have a bit of gaping at my neck with a lot of patterns, but not here! I've never had a dress fit me so well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTWHSay2iPaY17Gt_ZCeeSIJZI0UF2vqgXPu1wBHlu1OV08Z9VORhTbbs6vX8NfYAv_VaHLGlpJTPH9UliY13SX3z9TF8jhOWQHnY4Vdq7vULAeh_M_f3Uw0O8TB6_E3yJCoSrpCGOudc/s1600/IMG_3484b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTWHSay2iPaY17Gt_ZCeeSIJZI0UF2vqgXPu1wBHlu1OV08Z9VORhTbbs6vX8NfYAv_VaHLGlpJTPH9UliY13SX3z9TF8jhOWQHnY4Vdq7vULAeh_M_f3Uw0O8TB6_E3yJCoSrpCGOudc/s1600/IMG_3484b.jpg" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The next step was to play a little with necklines. I've got a basic high neckline and then I had a go at making one with more of a v-neck. Here I cheated a little looking using some existing patterns I had as a kind of guideline, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At the moment I keep using skirts from my existing patterns and matching them with this bodice. Luckily the skirts from my Boundless Style book from Victory Patterns seem to work beautifully with my bodice pattern and that's where this one came from. I was bit unsure at first if it was too long, but the more I've worn it, the more I like it and now want to 100 more dresses just like this one.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3MvGP6-gAIuVvzhhb901gpEkM5NvnhL_FOx1HIFLI7hF0NODqF-Qq5pEv2BCmH5oNswdd2sXki1-r1N_1zt7wlPMIoGO24w2hv116Fc0-R5ewAJWYnI-lhYElw5nfe4W2yj3xKffaoQw/s1600/IMG_3491b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3MvGP6-gAIuVvzhhb901gpEkM5NvnhL_FOx1HIFLI7hF0NODqF-Qq5pEv2BCmH5oNswdd2sXki1-r1N_1zt7wlPMIoGO24w2hv116Fc0-R5ewAJWYnI-lhYElw5nfe4W2yj3xKffaoQw/s1600/IMG_3491b.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The fabric is some lovely Cloud 9 fabric I picked up from Spotlight. I initially made this as a tester dress but I think the fabric suited the pattern perfectly. I wasn't at all fussy when it came to print matching, but that hasn't mattered and it's been a great dress for Summer, in fact even one of my preps at School commented that I'm always wearing this dress. I'd better hurry up and make another one I guess.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the Tic Tac Toe dress from Sewpony. I'm not sure why I didn't get this until now. I have seen and liked many versions online but just never got around to it. I'm certainly glad I have now.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This fabric I've had on my shelf for a while, one of those ""I like it so much I'll keep saving it". It's some Art Gallery denim and was dream to sew with. Although it is a denim, it's lovely and soft and has a lovely drape. It worked perfectly for this dress.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8FJ-hC5dOZJ5Wojtwq-G24TiP1XuPihnXKbGZjOG83rMiVhMcC8tFwzxhhlsboiCRbb1ZSCUvoWbTi-HMiKsDFM0cd9xuem-9X0Ix0aefLw27bgOu5MgY3ygbYLVw7UYJOMdXQA1NTWs/s1600/IMG_3328a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8FJ-hC5dOZJ5Wojtwq-G24TiP1XuPihnXKbGZjOG83rMiVhMcC8tFwzxhhlsboiCRbb1ZSCUvoWbTi-HMiKsDFM0cd9xuem-9X0Ix0aefLw27bgOu5MgY3ygbYLVw7UYJOMdXQA1NTWs/s1600/IMG_3328a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided to sew up the version where the bodice is split up a bit. There's so many different ways to put this pattern together it can suit many different fabric and combinations. I used just one fabric here, but I'd love to have a go at playing round with some different fabric combinations. It's a great way to use up some of those small piece of left over fabric.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added some white piping which shows up the lines of the dress beautifully. I love the way the piping continues down to outline the pockets.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made a size 5 and it's a little roomy but fine. I thought she might just grow out of the four too quickly. Freya's on the borderline of so many patterns at the moment it's hard to know what size to make sometimes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

The pockets were a big hit!</div>

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to test the new Coffee and Thread pattern, the <a href="http://coffeeandthread.bigcartel.com/product/the-polina-dress">Polina dress.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcTEyLy1tj0iZuEf8X5jh1uJU16VI1VoGezjkRcYVeA1YONoV68kUp_gCpGjvaIzp5J74YWGkenlZwahzbBnhn6e_xVXzvRybzieiyEnCySTDObcJVVxl1zoZDnviyqs4vUq6790mCUmU/s1600/IMG_3186a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcTEyLy1tj0iZuEf8X5jh1uJU16VI1VoGezjkRcYVeA1YONoV68kUp_gCpGjvaIzp5J74YWGkenlZwahzbBnhn6e_xVXzvRybzieiyEnCySTDObcJVVxl1zoZDnviyqs4vUq6790mCUmU/s1600/IMG_3186a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have noticed recently that I'm beginning to sew with more and more flowery prints. This dress was perfect for showing off this lovely dress.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG3itpF7nsslmJpbKUivjDkRtJB7TjBpNXld49sR3E7mSkmZhY9wwlNQKmSjJYAGX2nYK_1wyrKNjJ4iAn9IBIgj2NR_x_e9kq0-pVnvV8XybniF2htEnQBayhhBTID_AI9gWLF3qX2Hc/s1600/IMG_3265a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG3itpF7nsslmJpbKUivjDkRtJB7TjBpNXld49sR3E7mSkmZhY9wwlNQKmSjJYAGX2nYK_1wyrKNjJ4iAn9IBIgj2NR_x_e9kq0-pVnvV8XybniF2htEnQBayhhBTID_AI9gWLF3qX2Hc/s1600/IMG_3265a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There's a few options with this pattern. This is the gathered skirt and the circular frills. I'm not going to lie, those frills were not easy to sew. It was worth the effort though as they look very sweet.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZS-kGF_rf1UIXJKS4E40cTP3typVi6JFXBeETU78ZgxKOkmnxSzp2C6Oq2fAIuioiBsDGpuB8s8dZ7q5dLgnSdtbqhbBnWUGo85FDIz10aKrm0DlBn4J-CwKiAplyPDH6eu-3rt5fUx8/s1600/IMG_3175a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZS-kGF_rf1UIXJKS4E40cTP3typVi6JFXBeETU78ZgxKOkmnxSzp2C6Oq2fAIuioiBsDGpuB8s8dZ7q5dLgnSdtbqhbBnWUGo85FDIz10aKrm0DlBn4J-CwKiAplyPDH6eu-3rt5fUx8/s1600/IMG_3175a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Olga has worked very hard on this pattern, constantly improving every little thing. This was one of the final versions and it looks great. I made this size 4 with the lined bodice. Other than the fiddly frills it all came together beautifully.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyc1bDZozIG4WFMqfjzxIOYjiCS9Iy-r8emOgKqhiV3XLwFNeB5Sg0leYYUZNNHP_77TzCeYb-wyA4Je1TKwPd3DCjliRUGlxFK3xHYfYF38Gooryz7Y6pACOboDkijqKzO21tsVhJX1k/s1600/IMG_3142a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyc1bDZozIG4WFMqfjzxIOYjiCS9Iy-r8emOgKqhiV3XLwFNeB5Sg0leYYUZNNHP_77TzCeYb-wyA4Je1TKwPd3DCjliRUGlxFK3xHYfYF38Gooryz7Y6pACOboDkijqKzO21tsVhJX1k/s1600/IMG_3142a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now prepare for picture overload.</div>

Freya's becoming quite vocal in the things I make for her, which can lead to some fun!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After noticing she had a few cat dresses but no dog dresses she announced she needed one. So off we went post haste to the fabric shop and found this Cotton and Steel fabric that fit the bill. Of course the contrast colour just had to be yellow but I think it works really well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf3jymqm0hFhh0xRAyFha2BdP3yh-Pr3qC-f3h1B8FEZ-EPc2FFP3p6UMBmU2zY4GnZ18CUK4Bc-4VCbqSOn4uDg5mjAkNyytQsFyiQVC_Gq0_tT4Gdwl6W4P42jb8GXBtXw0Dk06B6_E/s1600/IMG_2862a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf3jymqm0hFhh0xRAyFha2BdP3yh-Pr3qC-f3h1B8FEZ-EPc2FFP3p6UMBmU2zY4GnZ18CUK4Bc-4VCbqSOn4uDg5mjAkNyytQsFyiQVC_Gq0_tT4Gdwl6W4P42jb8GXBtXw0Dk06B6_E/s1600/IMG_2862a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was then told it needed to be twirly and I decided to go with the Ileana dress pattern from Compagnie M. I've made it before and figured it was high time for a new one.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
As it was quite a directional print I went with the half circle skirt, with the raglan sleeves (my favourite!) and added the triangle pockets. Because you can never have too much yellow when you're four I also added a belt, which I think lifts the dress nicely.</div>

I made a size 5 for my growing girl. It's roomy but still definitely wearable. I had a little hiccup with the back of the skirt when I cut out the pocket shapes from that piece as well. I was able to wrangle another back skirt out of what I had left but had to cut it in 2 pieces and add seam allowance.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
It's a wrap dress, a style I've never really made before so I thought I'd get Freya to wear it for a day before I rushed out to make a second one. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For this one I kept it pretty simple and left off the collar and sleeves. I didn't have enough lining to fully line it as the instructions, so I just lined the bodice. It all seemed to work out OK but there's a couple of corners and edges I'm not 100% happy with so I'll try to fully line the next one.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This is some Cotton and Steel Fabric I have sewn with<a href="http://giddyants.blogspot.com.au/2015/08/roller-skate-dress-with-purple-flowers.html"> before.</a> Freya and I liked that dress so much, that we (and I mean we!) decided she needed another purple dress as she grew out of the old one. I'd actually bought some more a while back with another dress in mind, but luckily it's worked out nicely for this one. I picked out some mustard for a contrast tie.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Construction and pattern wise, it's pretty good as usual from Compagnie M. There's a few options to choose from and I liked not having to worry about zippers or buttons for a change. I made a size 5 for my growing girl and it is a little roomy but not too gapey. <span style="text-align: center;">It all stayed together and didn't unravel as she ran and jumped around in it, which was a little concern of mine. When it does get cooler, I think this will layer nicely.</span></div>

A certain someone who proclaimed this dress as being "boring"looks pretty pleased with herself in these photos!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyYeDDMLTGSeLx8j1xi9xhLIqDosRwzAdMSSKZY1O3iUuYXOtXfAc6RW9NKBSpugbQyHThLMxfb-L5gfKcbn8NgXHk6AoPv7Wx4P_psJ_giPsjUCLBycYdkCOp4zevBZ_bhXjm06zdIh8/s1600/IMG_2592a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyYeDDMLTGSeLx8j1xi9xhLIqDosRwzAdMSSKZY1O3iUuYXOtXfAc6RW9NKBSpugbQyHThLMxfb-L5gfKcbn8NgXHk6AoPv7Wx4P_psJ_giPsjUCLBycYdkCOp4zevBZ_bhXjm06zdIh8/s1600/IMG_2592a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the Laure Dress a new pattern by Straightgrain. I must admit a bit of a weakness of a dropped waist dress so this was an insta-buy when it was released. This is with the bow collar but there are also other options including a qipao collar that I'd like to try one day.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFXNl1oQW4iKvo70r2BEgmL973xZLlR4w_mizbKwcoBcpWMPRdG7l-PAv421RwgFyFrCp-mK-0XwquAfrvTVeB1jH1PrfWoGnQTv4KNwRCuAKI8aNx8VKQaU6szJ53tIxV-vnj6KzzkEY/s1600/IMG_2582a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFXNl1oQW4iKvo70r2BEgmL973xZLlR4w_mizbKwcoBcpWMPRdG7l-PAv421RwgFyFrCp-mK-0XwquAfrvTVeB1jH1PrfWoGnQTv4KNwRCuAKI8aNx8VKQaU6szJ53tIxV-vnj6KzzkEY/s1600/IMG_2582a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I ended up making a size 5, which is a very generous fit on my girl. She turns 5 soon and at the rate she's growing I wanted to do some future proofing. I had some great advice from people on Instagram regarding sizing but I figured I'd be happier with her growing into the dress, instead of growing out of it quickly. It's not as if she has a shortage of things to wear :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBamgOf4zdREwRQ84usGuBXF6cZNunrXxnEs9FIOj2UU7VCp6yd_y0CGpgO9FB9Te96srzAQBNN2nDwsm4WHIFSWzywJPNwEBc5vwttIaNdPZluW4yYBL9Gp-n64M8mzbjAqQSrkSkSjE/s1600/IMG_2585a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBamgOf4zdREwRQ84usGuBXF6cZNunrXxnEs9FIOj2UU7VCp6yd_y0CGpgO9FB9Te96srzAQBNN2nDwsm4WHIFSWzywJPNwEBc5vwttIaNdPZluW4yYBL9Gp-n64M8mzbjAqQSrkSkSjE/s1600/IMG_2585a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As ever the pdf and pattern went together well. The cap sleeves were a little fiddly, but no more than any other sleeve. There was some great instructions for the invisible zipper, especially for the top. That's one area I'm never 100% happy with how it looks. I used some fabric I'd had in the stash for a while (I'm not sure what collection it is) and was able to get this dress out of 1 metre. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out but Freya proclaimed it to be "boring"and said it needs a pink collar. Who knows, I think she may be onto something. I'm really enjoying how she's developing her own taste now.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Freya was in fine form today with her "modelling"poses. She had me in stitches! </div>

That's what Freya is calling it anyway.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE_WhbQvFdR1utMDe2G560D5ohFxby2a5vosJ2eUlbD3afk9kmblMoLyD6xwGBegXHK7s4d2X3cWooKL0Zbd1EfRLMrUyqFJwOVUjtKQQetsMjvigz0Lci-Qiq0J8lv2oCrkehs63F9lw/s1600/IMG_2336a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE_WhbQvFdR1utMDe2G560D5ohFxby2a5vosJ2eUlbD3afk9kmblMoLyD6xwGBegXHK7s4d2X3cWooKL0Zbd1EfRLMrUyqFJwOVUjtKQQetsMjvigz0Lci-Qiq0J8lv2oCrkehs63F9lw/s1600/IMG_2336a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the new Macy Pinafore from Jilly Atlanta. I was trying my best not to buy any more patterns but I caved after seeing so many cute versions on Facebook. The fabric is some pink cotton and steel with little pictures of bowls and jugs and other kitchen implements. So seeing as it looks a little like an apron and has kitchen pictures on it has become known as the baking dress.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi62k6y2ebNU6BQKuu0JpFG_86rA6S7ZKIpYUh-9CAEjdR7qCItyoqo4yJZ6HrywVXPBplFwNTE8GG2u4MAfT_9IdFsJk3hov1W30tgJbZllVvf24deCclrDZWrm35UHk1T0s0q4zazh_w/s1600/IMG_2348a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi62k6y2ebNU6BQKuu0JpFG_86rA6S7ZKIpYUh-9CAEjdR7qCItyoqo4yJZ6HrywVXPBplFwNTE8GG2u4MAfT_9IdFsJk3hov1W30tgJbZllVvf24deCclrDZWrm35UHk1T0s0q4zazh_w/s1600/IMG_2348a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a bit of a mixed experience with this dress. I made a size 5 thinking it would add a bit more length so Freya wouldn't grow out of it as quickly. As I was making it I realised the skirt was long, like seriously long, like almost to her ankles long. I trimmed off a few inches thinking that would serve me right for picking a bigger size and then read that the pattern is supposed to have a 3 inch hem. Doh!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also, for whatever reason, didn't interface the straps. I've adjusted the length a few times but they still seem to slip off her shoulders. Maybe sizing up wasn't the right decision after all.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhncjHLxmpJb7aaKInkjrovtFjTa3Tp1xk4v4S8hms4nzDWXAyyaD5sGIOLb6dnPN0eYh7ZR4l-FVRifu8FqHfn33MN2fmkdFDJlArQg12aTSDLVkVeDNWfN1Fz5JmjywiHDtjMuo6C2c4/s1600/IMG_2344a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhncjHLxmpJb7aaKInkjrovtFjTa3Tp1xk4v4S8hms4nzDWXAyyaD5sGIOLb6dnPN0eYh7ZR4l-FVRifu8FqHfn33MN2fmkdFDJlArQg12aTSDLVkVeDNWfN1Fz5JmjywiHDtjMuo6C2c4/s1600/IMG_2344a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
However having said all that I really like this dress. When I'd finished it I was looking at my fabric stash and thinking how every fabric I had would look cute in this pattern.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh697MNsmIStS_jXdgOOnepVBC2sJGr4fYa9qW8ahIpVa3cBG0GEpJe309nQk-DXIa_WetM1sIMbVBBgxOOSrcdp-FwI_4PA_28KiGMESWTNhGeB80qukk_1BR7LVbQNUG4DdSo6x0it0Q/s1600/IMG_2350a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh697MNsmIStS_jXdgOOnepVBC2sJGr4fYa9qW8ahIpVa3cBG0GEpJe309nQk-DXIa_WetM1sIMbVBBgxOOSrcdp-FwI_4PA_28KiGMESWTNhGeB80qukk_1BR7LVbQNUG4DdSo6x0it0Q/s1600/IMG_2350a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern itself was great. The PDF has layers and lines up easily. Instructions are very clear with colour photos and video links to help.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDsYDGP1NeVaks01MmtAI_KqN0b4O6VZeHANt1gaY9nV235zrAFL5Hqd2l4dbUUdQSab3vHyxHG1qpTonsNlct1DMtGG0w1RriXXLE4irIOj_gI6Lb5ZHLiymSelEZjQzG_x6eJo7-m_Q/s1600/IMG_2332a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDsYDGP1NeVaks01MmtAI_KqN0b4O6VZeHANt1gaY9nV235zrAFL5Hqd2l4dbUUdQSab3vHyxHG1qpTonsNlct1DMtGG0w1RriXXLE4irIOj_gI6Lb5ZHLiymSelEZjQzG_x6eJo7-m_Q/s1600/IMG_2332a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Although this one may need to be hung up in the cupboard for a while until Freya grows a bit, I think I would still give this pattern another go, maybe this time in the right size.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdRwTtcFrh5lp4GTfVF0iXbXyqpR7JmOlFy0lVTcHJOgnfZRG-jwEai26wbvNcjlw3xv3h9OFlbf3_TEi5OTJUgBrMTPYlL-aJ3Ou-qD42Df24p1XykjZ0bAgc9Q5tF2ExYqMWg5Hi0iI/s1600/IMG_2353a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdRwTtcFrh5lp4GTfVF0iXbXyqpR7JmOlFy0lVTcHJOgnfZRG-jwEai26wbvNcjlw3xv3h9OFlbf3_TEi5OTJUgBrMTPYlL-aJ3Ou-qD42Df24p1XykjZ0bAgc9Q5tF2ExYqMWg5Hi0iI/s1600/IMG_2353a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Check out that attitude! I think she's been watching me take photos of my dresses, LOL!</div>

You know a pattern is a winner when you sew 3 of them in a row.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK7MTn7GUCrbNAClPPNDIqEx89D_6QQ-eAPFKRyImWkiCwkCM_fKU9R8AHT9n0jSE4ViLh8YfM1KLxgMbIlGpUrvec3_HjuDYRY4ESjhAPisashyphenhyphenZLLdFrD1IjTzZFSoIitT6Igg_CyCI/s1600/IMG_2210a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK7MTn7GUCrbNAClPPNDIqEx89D_6QQ-eAPFKRyImWkiCwkCM_fKU9R8AHT9n0jSE4ViLh8YfM1KLxgMbIlGpUrvec3_HjuDYRY4ESjhAPisashyphenhyphenZLLdFrD1IjTzZFSoIitT6Igg_CyCI/s1600/IMG_2210a.jpg"></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's yet another Tinny dress I'm afraid.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh38qBV2uy71ij6THEi8CUEoKSS8uljazazL2unqBirc1tcmIJ3af7WB7xOR9x1sfkqIrjjdFLjwoGq9UzCpqeRBtbXmyJ-gzVWCcQtYSa4fKs4k5_rGJEVXIE6xlfPm0OhuU6TO-rVGYs/s1600/IMG_2192a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh38qBV2uy71ij6THEi8CUEoKSS8uljazazL2unqBirc1tcmIJ3af7WB7xOR9x1sfkqIrjjdFLjwoGq9UzCpqeRBtbXmyJ-gzVWCcQtYSa4fKs4k5_rGJEVXIE6xlfPm0OhuU6TO-rVGYs/s1600/IMG_2192a.jpg"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'd had this idea to sew a dress with some pom poms for a while and never got round to it. I also had a metre of this gorgeous cotton and steel print that needed to be used before Freya grew too big for a pattern I could use it with. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp8CVWyToJ-DaGYPDDBvbcxWn9mBN3Vb_Uoqu5YPLF6YHgcVXUrTFMvFBEBvOdTTzsQtPwP8Remv13nMSIXlNlBv5cC3GF1HYaLadCQKN_X229sfkGISQtEGxmPz6S6V5JEr5gePhVP4U/s1600/IMG_2182a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp8CVWyToJ-DaGYPDDBvbcxWn9mBN3Vb_Uoqu5YPLF6YHgcVXUrTFMvFBEBvOdTTzsQtPwP8Remv13nMSIXlNlBv5cC3GF1HYaLadCQKN_X229sfkGISQtEGxmPz6S6V5JEr5gePhVP4U/s1600/IMG_2182a.jpg"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's another gathered skirt version and I think I have plans for one more so I hope you don't get bored. I love that this dress can be dressed up or just worn everyday and as I have a girl who only wants to wear dresses, it's nice to have some everyday dresses.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm not normally one for embellishments but I've found I don't seem to mind the pompoms. James said he was a bit skeptical at first when I showed him the fabric and pompoms, but even he said it looks good after all. High praise indeed!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I should really listen to Freya more often.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9DnJBttuVx186plqouQ5v7ht41N5805kci-2Rkwv2iDl-kEdGw7squg93xvi42bOXIlHRNH0gyAwuohMh-Q-a65oMCSSIJAGgd-QY6Q5pMb9YGJByme5c4D7Apl6VLLT05ug_VluITDw/s1600/IMG_2299a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9DnJBttuVx186plqouQ5v7ht41N5805kci-2Rkwv2iDl-kEdGw7squg93xvi42bOXIlHRNH0gyAwuohMh-Q-a65oMCSSIJAGgd-QY6Q5pMb9YGJByme5c4D7Apl6VLLT05ug_VluITDw/s1600/IMG_2299a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She saw this fabric when I was looking on Instagram one day and instantly kept asking for it. Naturally we made a trip to the fabric shop (any excuse will do!) and she was still set on having an orange dress. As ever she was right and it's made a very cute dress.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifRthIpA1n7OABTTUqB32PfShdDUKQvyYdBMmdBlZ0rq6sZyYEPy7c-RYcauW3qewEu8EytLgpzoYqsv4ImfmMHkqQgzz5tcVlVCHb3GViuc53H9qRpITEvdsGwxMBjVug8fJZWuDJEYo/s1600/IMG_2274a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifRthIpA1n7OABTTUqB32PfShdDUKQvyYdBMmdBlZ0rq6sZyYEPy7c-RYcauW3qewEu8EytLgpzoYqsv4ImfmMHkqQgzz5tcVlVCHb3GViuc53H9qRpITEvdsGwxMBjVug8fJZWuDJEYo/s1600/IMG_2274a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used the old faithful Tinny dress by Straightgrain. To be honest I hadn't really given much thought to the gathered skirt but this is the third version now of this dress I've made.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjTeACrk4B-ujcQqP2m2yzLKFiwtyEMBAS9BdppADK4ZM2uIVIxUbmjchYrLLbmWV7QWoPDYM9H8-X2tpmAz1JpidwshhX0i9HoCZvZoSMyXL9_55wkMF3s8BFI6UOzpE4hUAiz4lPu38/s1600/IMG_2261a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjTeACrk4B-ujcQqP2m2yzLKFiwtyEMBAS9BdppADK4ZM2uIVIxUbmjchYrLLbmWV7QWoPDYM9H8-X2tpmAz1JpidwshhX0i9HoCZvZoSMyXL9_55wkMF3s8BFI6UOzpE4hUAiz4lPu38/s1600/IMG_2261a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've not much to say about this pattern that I haven't already said. I think it is now my most used pattern, as it has so many options and the fit is so nice. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Hello! I hope everyone has had a safe and happy Christmas and New Year!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjylGTTbof6uuzQ9-OHz4in99rJSdGu8D3G2wQsqfFgf08o08h4yGejfgbfenCohEAjfihEPy-gk-1opaO7Qh6125BGNu_o3JUYV179IFyYZlTeaMkE0uvwDtq0H940Scb2VZz5yNu-10E/s1600/IMG_2143a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjylGTTbof6uuzQ9-OHz4in99rJSdGu8D3G2wQsqfFgf08o08h4yGejfgbfenCohEAjfihEPy-gk-1opaO7Qh6125BGNu_o3JUYV179IFyYZlTeaMkE0uvwDtq0H940Scb2VZz5yNu-10E/s1600/IMG_2143a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is actually a dress I made last year but it sat languishing on a shelf waiting for a button that I finally sewed on last week.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC0iY23MftDyqQ7_xDjl4KoZ0XxUWf6zwOw1hZ70W4PHDlgscPtM2aG4osVZSp47iWjDZiVYNiPgqxCtuyhLKJ6P49FCFYPgvJYDZZ761b70WvlrHEG1PfaGewUdCBXbC1gNsUfHE825U/s1600/IMG_2162a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC0iY23MftDyqQ7_xDjl4KoZ0XxUWf6zwOw1hZ70W4PHDlgscPtM2aG4osVZSp47iWjDZiVYNiPgqxCtuyhLKJ6P49FCFYPgvJYDZZ761b70WvlrHEG1PfaGewUdCBXbC1gNsUfHE825U/s1600/IMG_2162a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is the Sullivan Dress from Sew Much Ado. I was instantly drawn to the scallops and the very cute sleeves. It all went together fairly well. I had a few errors and frustrations but I think they were more my mistakes than the pattern's. For instance I stuffed up the lining and had to re-do the bodice, and then I couldn't seem to press the sleeves so the seam allowance sat nicely.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was a bit worried the fabric would make the dress end up looking a bit flat, but I think in the end it's turned out OK. </div>

I've made yet another building block dress.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY94M2Zd-pjrfpsT7ttRyaxoVOG1jZ1Veq8RyWiekxacr973j210n22oaNA2Rdqe5ZLBp5Pyq1uI37L_BMS2lJLOgnyHHaTF0eU0AQxeNMzRBMMQvkO9ZMa-HB8uGjVKvyRkYWZOcAzV4/s1600/IMG_1611a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY94M2Zd-pjrfpsT7ttRyaxoVOG1jZ1Veq8RyWiekxacr973j210n22oaNA2Rdqe5ZLBp5Pyq1uI37L_BMS2lJLOgnyHHaTF0eU0AQxeNMzRBMMQvkO9ZMa-HB8uGjVKvyRkYWZOcAzV4/s1600/IMG_1611a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This again is one of the basic versions of the block dress from the Oliver and S book, this time complete with collars and sleeve cuffs. The only thing I did differently was just over-locking the sleeves instead of using the sleeve cuff facing. I wasn't in the mood for fiddly sewing that night.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsr5bH_BimDKHxgP7GqZCnUuC-zn3t63bGbziO5esEk0Woyb7yot4I_xE7KfZJI-JEdw91Wg6eG0tJbq3dLk8dCDO2WN3gPSSGeezmGKHE7Ip_xyokBPs4DzTSlRfO5GViIyJjE1s3ukI/s1600/IMG_1669a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsr5bH_BimDKHxgP7GqZCnUuC-zn3t63bGbziO5esEk0Woyb7yot4I_xE7KfZJI-JEdw91Wg6eG0tJbq3dLk8dCDO2WN3gPSSGeezmGKHE7Ip_xyokBPs4DzTSlRfO5GViIyJjE1s3ukI/s1600/IMG_1669a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I toyed with the idea of using a white contrast fabric but I'm glad I ended up going with the yellow. The fabric is some Cotton and Steel with gorgeous little lemons on it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It looks as good as ever, the book was definitely worth every penny. I've already had a go at drafting yet another dress.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I'm kind of proud of this one!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9fRzZ4JCt4uyQQGXwb3ZrHjdFwJZ-oeSyJM95Q7XhH0cz0_sn42PXOVXq01Xv5HSunWO2KhAQtDnKZ0LOcMDDarteJGPZ4u0V1G6UKL_c9x2zWAOJWU_HgmkJ6x7SYBWvE6-K7F54w38/s1600/IMG_1352a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9fRzZ4JCt4uyQQGXwb3ZrHjdFwJZ-oeSyJM95Q7XhH0cz0_sn42PXOVXq01Xv5HSunWO2KhAQtDnKZ0LOcMDDarteJGPZ4u0V1G6UKL_c9x2zWAOJWU_HgmkJ6x7SYBWvE6-K7F54w38/s1600/IMG_1352a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a gathered skirt version of the Tinny dress by Straightgrain, a pattern I come back to again and again.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I loved this fabric when I saw one of my local fabric stores post a picture of it on Instagram. Freya saw the picture and asked for that please, please, please. She also picked out some orange with diamonds on from the same range. When I'd finished making it, she was very proud that she'd picked the fabric.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've made this pattern so many times I used the cheat sheet instead of each instruction. I knew I wanted the stripes to go different ways on the bodice and skirt. It took quite a bit of work to get that zipper to line up, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the first time I'd ever done a blind hem too. I think it's something I'll be using a lot more.</div>

Don't you love a four year old's style?! She's got new shoes and now she won't wear anything else :) </div>
