I had admired this pattern since it's release but I figured I didn't really need another high bodice and gathered skirt pattern as it is a design I am drawn to and purchase again and again. However when I saw it was being discontinued and on sale I finally took the plunge.
I made a size 3 looking at the measurements and I think it's a little loose but not too bad. The skirt is VERY gathered, I was quite surprised how big the skirt sections were. It is also a very quick sew, I reckon I could whip one up easily in one evening, instead of getting distracted and only finishing it off this week, many, many days later from when I started it! When will I learn?
The PDF is a layered file so you can just print the size you need. The instructions are a little sparse so it may not be the best pattern for beginners but I found it just fine. The trickiest bit was figuring out where to put the snaps using the button hole guide but even that wasn't too difficult.
A few months ago I had upgraded my machine to one with a lot more stitches and I haven't really used any of them yet. Although I liked the fabric combination I was a bit concerned the dress was looking a little flat so I added a decorative stitch as the top stitching. I'm so glad I did, it's such a nice little detail I will have to do again! I used my trusty snaps for the button holes and went with the three different colours on each side.
So excited with these photos today. We recently got around to getting a DSLR camera and I'm loving it. I still have a lot to learn with settings and the like but I'm pretty pleased with the results so far.
I love the snaps matching the colors from the skirt!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I couldn't decide which color to use do I just used them all!
