The Last Minute Roller Skate Dress

There's nothing like leaving a project until the last possible minute...

I decided earlier this month to take part in the monthly theme for Project Run and Play.  This month it was all about adding some sort of hand sewing to a project.  I'd already been thinking about adding some sort of sashiko stitching to a simple dress and this seemed the perfect excuse.

The trouble was I just couldn't decide what sort of design I wanted to do and knew realistically I wouldn't have enough time.  So at the last minutes decided to make a roller skate dress in this lovely teal shade and add a simple dandelion design from Urban Threads.

Ages and ages ago I'd wanted to do a dress like this but always got distracted with other things so it's been great to finally get around to making it now.  I used a sashiko thread and used a basic running stitch although I left little gaps as it was a much thicker thread than I'm used to using.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  Some of the stitches aren't as even as they could have been but the dress still looks nice.  This pattern is so perfect for adding extra little details like this!
