The Sewabaloo Briabaloo Shirt Dress

I was able to test the new dress pattern for Sewabaloo and it's a good one!

This is the Briabaloo dress and comes with options for a sleeveless, short sleeved and peplum top. There are also side seam pockets and front pockets and a collar.  I made a simple sleeveless dress with the side seam pockets.

There is a lot of ease around the waist but it is drawn in nicely around the waist with some ties.  The pattern has some elastic on the ties as well which cinches it in really nicely.  The fit and shape of the dress is just lovely!  It's generous but not overly big but plenty of room for growing and playing.  I really like this dress and will definitely be making more.

There are facings for the neckline and armholes and a large hem facing.  It all tucks into place nicely with the button plackets and it all went together nicely.  I think it would be nice to make another one in plain fabric with a contrast top-stitch to highlight these details.

The pattern is well-written with clear instructions that just needed a little tweak here and there.  It was great to be able to test and I hope my feedback was helpful.

The fabric is some more of my Cloud9 Wildwood stash.  Orange is not normally a colour I'm drawn to but this was such a nice print.  Freya has loved it and often asks for the orange dress.

  1. Great dress, the color combination with the fabric is cool, I have a weak spot for button down dresses.
