A Bowtiful Dress

What does a little Wiggles fan need for Christmas? A bowtiful Emma dress!

Dotty about Culottes

One of my favourite Oliver and S patterns would have to be the Lunch Box Culottes.

Cherry Dress for a Cherry Party

In our local town recently it was the annual strawberry and cherry festival so of course Freya needed a cherry dress.

The much delayed Ileana Dress

I had barely finished the last version of this dress when I had this one already cut out and ready to go.   In fact I've had it sewn up for ages with only the hem to go and only finished it this week!

Today, it was next to impossible to get this girl to stand still!  You have been warned...

A CraftingCon dress for a Shindig

I'm over at CraftingCon again today for the 'Adventures in Space' month.

I made a dress inspired by Kaylee from Firefly and although I'm not a huge fan of pink, I'm pretty thrilled by how it's turned out.

A monochrome outfit

'A little while ago Oliver and S started a monochrome challenge, with the idea to sew something in black and white using their patterns.

Castle in the Sky post at Craftingcon

I was recently lucky enough to write a guest post over at CraftingCon.  I made a dress inspired by the Ghibli movie 'Castle in the Sky'

Not the most sensible Jaanu dress.

Making a mostly white dress for a 3 year old may not be the most practical thing I've ever made but I still love it!

The 'oh look it's not a dress!' Ressica Raglan Top

I feel like I've been sewing an abundance of dresses for Little Miss lately so figured it was time to try something a bit different.

I've been meaning to sew this dress for a while, and I'm so glad I finally got around to making it.

Roller Skate Dress with Purple Flowers

I've sewn a few more dressier dresses lately and fancied making something a bit more everyday for a change.

My first Jaanu dress

We've had a busy couple of weeks with trips away and weddings to go to so it's been nice to get back to some sewing.

Green Spotty Butterfly Top

For the photos today there was no hope of her standing still at all.  You have been warned...

This is one of the latest new patterns from Oliver and S, the butterfly top.  I haven't got around to the skirt yet and maybe I will one day, but I seem to make more pants to go with tops instead of skirts at the moment.

We finally got to go outside, after having a run of bad weather on our days together at  home.  She was so excited to looking around and playing, understandably so!

I'm not normally one for ruffles or flutter sleeves and had fully intended to make this with the cap sleeve, but changed my mind at the last minute.  I remember holding up the finished top and even James said that's not like what you usually make.  I'm glad I did branch out a bit though.  The flutter sleeves aren't too big or over the top, as you'd expect from Oliver and S and it actually looks very sweet.  I've just cut out another dress and chose the flutter sleeve option there too.

The pattern calls for a thread chain for the closure and I took the lazy way out here.  The last thread chain I've made wasn't really up to scratch so it is something I should practise but never mind.  I had intended to add a button loop when sewing the placket but totally forgot.  Instead I've added a hook and eye, like from the Jane top I made not so long ago.

The fabric is some lovely green spots from Michael Miller.  It looks great with the denim parsley pants.  I also bought some pink on the same day and they looked lovely together, but that combo will have to wait for another day.  Pink and flutter sleeves!  I'm becoming all girly all of a sudden!

This is actually the second version of this I've made but I stuffed the first version up with the neck binding and haven't got around to trying to resurrect it yet.  It was all my fault, through not reading the instructions properly.  I treated the neck binding like you normally would by sewing down one raw edge and trying to fold the edges over when I was supposed to sew all the raw edges together at once.  Knew better for this one!

Not much more to report really, just to say I actually have liked this top more and more after seeing her wearing it.  I know I say this all the time but I will definitely be making more of this one, even with more flutter sleeves!

It's amazing how just putting her hair up in ponytails all of a sudden made her look so grown up!  They looked nice, for the hour and a half they lasted for.

Embroidered Playtime Tunic

The Oliver and S Playtime Tunic would have to be one of my most worn patterns.  For this one I tried adding some embroidery but I'm not 100% sure it was worth it.

Spotty Franklin Dress

I think one of the things I enjoy most about sewing is the planning.  Deciding which fabric to use with which pattern and sometimes this can be a match made in Heaven and then other times, not so much.

Blue Ishi Dress

This is one pattern I have been eagerly awaiting the release of for some time, the Ishi Dress by Straightgrain patterns.

Class Picnic Top

At the beginning of last year I made one of these tops and I'm glad I've finally got around to making another one.

Liberty Odette Dress

I haven't seemed to have been doing as much actual sewing in the past fortnight.  Works been keeping me busy and Freya seems to be kicking off the terrible threes in style! I swear I'll start calling her 'Mary' soon as in 'quite contrary' as I swear everything I do is wrong! She wants her cardigan off so I go to help her only to have her get cross and want to leave it on and so on and so forth!
Anyways here's another project I made for myself from a while back.

Liberty Swing Set Tunic

While it's nice to be able to sew something together quickly and easily, every now again it's nice to do something a little more involved.

KCW Yet Another Geranium

I have had this on my to-do list for a little over a month and I'm wishing I'd sewn it up sooner!
